Start a Campaign Log in A Platform for Latinx Changemakers to Campaign and Win Start a Campaign We’ll connect you to help and tools every step of the way.: A NEW POLITICAL HOME FOR LATINX AND CHICANX ORGANIZING 3,749 of 4,000 Signatures Students Pledge #NoTechForICE 1,772 of 2,000 Signatures Justice for Bernardo Palacios Carbajal Bernardo Palacios Carbajal, 22, was shot in the back over 30 times while he was fleeing from police officers moments after yelling his last words Officer, I don’t want to die!” Seconds later officers proceeded to shoot him after he was dying on the ground. Instead of offering medical assistance after shooting him, officers yelled for him to Show us your fucking hands!” Then his body was desecrated by having all his fingers shot causing some of them to become partially disconnected from his hands. We DEMAND justice for Bernardo. The lack of meaningful action from the District Attorney’s Office and Salt Lake City’s Mayor, reveals an implicit backing of SLCPD’s killer cops. Until all these demands are met, justice for Bernardo will not be served. Until there is deliverance of Justice for Bernardo, and all peoples brutalized and killed by the police force, there can be no peace. 8,888 of 9,000 Signatures Tell Amazon: Stop Powering ICE! New research shows that Amazon is helping ICE track, detain, and deport immigrantsin a big way. We’ve known that Amazon’s servers host Palantir, the company that provides ICE with mission-critical services,” such as its case management software, and we’ve been pressuring Amazon to drop Palantir. But it turns out Amazon’s role in the deportation machine goes deeper than that. Through intense lobbying of policymakers and law enforcement officials, Amazon and Palantir have secured a role as the backbone for the federal government’s immigration and law enforcement dragnet, allowing them to pursue multi-billion dollar government contracts in various agencies at every single level of law enforcement. These systems are new, and dangerous in new ways. They are accumulating unprecedented amounts of data (everything from facial scans to social media content), and exchanging information among city, state, and regional law enforcement systems, as well as some foreign governments, for the purpose of finding, deporting, and detaining immigrants. DHS and many other law enforcement agencies are spending billions of taxpayer dollars on these tech systemsand Amazon, Palantir and other tech companies are pushing them to go further. It’s time to hold Amazon accountable for its outsized share in building the deportation machine, and demand that they stop. It won’t be easyAmazon makes billions from these contracts. But the company also depends on consumersincluding millions of Latinx peopleand has to worry about protecting its brand. Recently, the company was forced to raise its minimum wage to $15/hour, which wouldn’t have happened without a major campaign demanding it. We can force Amazon to stop helping DHS and ICE target immigrants, if enough of us call them out, stay engaged, and keep the pressure on. More Campaigns Welcome to ! Our communities are under attack, under surveillance, and as Latinx people we have a a long history of experiences and knowledge to draw from. We can build the world we want to live in by starting our own campaigns that impact our communities. We’re making digital tools in English and Spanish accessible to Latinx changemakers so they can be part of any campaign you want to start. What do you want to change? Change begins by identifying the issue or injustice you want to change. Here are a few examples: A local company is promoting anti-Latinx ads and you want to stop them; someone in the community is being detained and and threatened with deportation; your state is enforcing a bathroom bill which would discriminate against gender non-conforming people. These are just a few examples of the many issues you can take action on. Build support from your community Petitions are central tools to build onto any campaign but not stand-alone solutions. Change takes community and as Latinx people, we have deep connections and more power than we know. We need to tap into every single resource and connection we have to get support for our campaigns. Take a minute to ask yourself a few questions like: Who would share my petition? Who else is impacted by this issue? After you launch your petition, share it with all your people over social media, email, and don’t forget to take it to the streets by telling your friends, your vecinos, your titi, your comadre, fulanito from the bodega. Together, we can make real change. Language English (USA) Español Terms & Conditions Community PrivacyMedia Terms & Conditions...
